On Tuesday, Apple announced a new 14-inch MacBook Pro powered by the M6 chip. The new MacBook Pro starts at $1,999 and is available in space black and silver colours. Pre-order is available starting today, Wednesday, October 28. Availability begins Friday, November 6.

Apple says the M6 with its 12-core GPU and two additional cores delivers up to 30 percent faster graphics performance compared to its predecessor, the M5. The M6 is also 25 percent faster for AI tasks and LLM prompt processing. Thanks to the M6 chip, the new 14-inch MacBook Pro delivers up to 24 hours of battery life, the longest ever in a Mac.

The M6 MacBook Pro starts with 16GB of unified memory standard, which is configurable up to 32GB, and a higher memory bandwidth up to 170GB/s. It supports fast charging, delivering up to 50 percent charge in 30 minutes with a compatible USB-C power adapter. Like the M5 MacBook, it includes HDMI, MagSafe 3, three Thunderbolt 4 ports, an SDXC card slot, and a headphone jack. It also features a 12-megapixel camera for FaceTime calls.

Apple also announced a new iMac powered by the same M6 chip. It starts at $1,499 and is available in blue, green, pink, yellow, purple, orange, and silver colours.
